Professional Review

Feed and Grow: Fish is a new early access STEAM game where you become a fish and have adventures in the ocean. Try to survive in this water world by hunting down your prey and trying not to die from your enemies. You can download Feed and Grow: Fish for Windows only.

Graphics 3.0/5

There is a lot of fish in this world and all of them are rather realistic except their human-like googly eyes. The scenery isn’t overwhelming and doesn’t look like the real ocean. The water itself doesn’t look like real water and when you move it doesn’t have such effects like bubbles or waves. The details of everything are a little bit sharp and edgy. The underwater world isn’t various enough. And also you can see through some graphics.

Gameplay 4.5/5

After choosing the fish to play you enter the ocean and have to hunt down and eat other smaller fish or crabs. It won’t be easy because right along with you there is a lot of other fish which will try to eat your prey. So it’ll be better if you go somewhere further away from them. Not only other piranha will steal your food, but they can also damage you as well. Keep an eye on your health because it has limits and once you die you can respawn in a few seconds and start over. For killing your victims you get meat which gives you health points and you get coins with which you can buy new fish to play as.

Controls 3.5/5

At first, you have to select fish to play. Piranha is for free, Pike, Catfish and Bonrex are for coins. Each fish has its own base stats (Health, Damage, Bite Speed etc.), you can see them on the right side of the screen. Also, each fish has its own abilities like Ambush, Snap, Devour, etc.

Once you start the game you have to follow the fish you want to eat hit the right mouse button in order for your jaws to open and to “aim”, once you’re near the prey release the button and you’ll bite your victim. Don’t forget to accelerate to catch your food faster and watch out for the streams - it’s more difficult to hunt with them.

Replay Value 3/5

From this Feed and Grow: Fish review you might see that you can go back to this game if you want to try to play as much other fish available. But it will be difficult - it’s tough to catch and bite your food, other schools of fish always steal it from you and the strong currencies make it even harder to hunt and survive. Not to mention other bigger fish that can eat you in one try. You get very few coins for killing prey but yet it takes so much time.

The Bottom Line

The game is new and nothing you’ve seen before so it makes sense to at least try it although it doesn’t come for free. But at the same time, because it’s an early access game you can directly participate in its further development and perfectioning. The sea world and all the characters look cute and fun in general. There’s enough of the variety of fish but not enough variety of scenery. The engine is good though - you’ll move pretty fast but your prey might move even faster. There are a lot of enemies on your way so this game will keep you at the edge of your seat.

Conclusion

If you like online survivals you should definitely check out and download Feed and Grow: Fish.
